Welcome to 6th grade Science!!
Dear PCA Community,
Out of an abundance of caution, Governor Carney has ordered all of Delaware’s public schools to close for the next two weeks to allow for the creation of a plan for Delaware’s children and families as the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues. Schools will be closed through March 27 and children should stay home. We understand this action may pose added hardship for some of our families. Over the next two weeks, we will continue to work with the Delaware Department of Education and the Division of Public Health to prepare for the potential impact that an extended closure could have on our students, their families, and our staff. While your student(s) remains home, we encourage you to continue practicing good hygiene, which includes: · Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. · Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. · Avoid close contact with people who are sick. · Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. · Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. · Get vaccinated for the flu is you have not already · Don’t shake hands or high five – consider a friendly toe tap or elbow bump If you feel for any reason your child may have or has been exposed to the novel coronavirus, please contact your doctor immediately. Virus symptoms can range from mild to severe and could include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Symptoms may appear in a few as two days or as long as 14 days after exposure. Providence Creek Academy is in the process of determining what options we have for our students to continue learning while the school is closed. We will remain in close contact with the State of Delaware and local public health officials throughout the duration of this closure and will provide updates to families as appropriate. We encourage you to stay informed of the situation by regularly checking updates from Division of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). We understand this is a time of uncertainty and concern. We will work through this together to keep our students, families, and staff safe. If you have health-related questions, please contact the Coronavirus hotline at 1.866.408.1899 OR your family physician. If you have questions about our school, please contact [email protected]. Please do not hesitate to share how we can do more to support. Sincerely, Denise Stouffer Head of School

Update for our PCA Community, 💜
While we do not have a confirmed case of COVID-19 at this time, we are erring on the side of caution for our students, faculty, and community and have decided to remain closed on Monday, March 16th. We are following the guidelines and treating this incident as if it were a confirmed case until we know otherwise to ensure the health and welfare of our entire PCA family. As soon as information presents, it will be shared. In the interim, the Division of Public Health is recommending that everyone remain vigilant about washing their hands, using hand sanitizer, avoiding touching one’s face with unwashed hands, and remaining a safe distance from other people. More guidance can be found at the CDC website. As a PCA parent and staff member, I am so thankful that extra precautions are being taken. 💜 Just a reminder that progress reports come home today! Also tomorrow is Pi day as well as a $2.00 NUT day!
!These are the notes we worked on last week and some of this week in class this is what they should be using to prepare for the quiz tomorrow. I highlighted key points that will be on the quiz!
Science Natural disaster posters are due Monday March 16th. We discussed in detail what should be included on their posters and students were to write down what we went over from the white board. I have attached a copy for anyone who was out or lost their own. I also have poster paper for anyone who may need it
All students will be choosing a natural disaster today. I have compiled as many natural disasters as I could find. Students will each draw from a basket to find out which disaster is theirs. Once they have chosen they will begin to work on an informative essay for Ms. Chaney as well as a poster for science class.
Don't forget tomorrow is our field trip to see Dr Dolittle. Students should pack a lunch. The attire for the day is jeans and a PCA shirt!
Spirit week is coming up!! The flyer is below!!
